ROY TER MAAT

I'm Roy ter Maat, I live in Amsterdam and started to work at this pages in may 1995. I wanted to know more about HTML for my work, and so started a homepage. Of course the subject of the page was psychobilly, since it's the music I really enjoy. When I started in 1995 there was no other information about psychobilly at all on the Internet. Pretty soon a lot of other psychos on the net emailed me about concerts and information about bands, so I was able to make a concert list and give more information about bands. Now more and more bands are on the Internet and for almost a 100 bands I make a promotional pages at this site.

How did I get into Psychobilly? The first psychobilly band I saw was Batmobile. I liked the music and met other people that liked this new style. Swapping tapes and a few concerts more and I was hooked. There's a picture above with me and a local band called The Daltons, with whom I used to go to concerts.
Okay, so I like music, but was I ever in a band people ask. Well to be honest I was, but never really succesful. I played the drums a band called Duke John. We played 'unplugged' way before Eric Clapton did, not because we were hip, but because we didn't have proper instruments. Later I played electric bass in The Photon Torpedos. This band ended when the singer/guitarist/songwriter moved to the US.

Work
My work has always been incolved with the Internet. Companies that I worked for:
Planet Internet (from 1995 to 1997)
BitMagic (from 1997 to 2000)
Bol.com (from 2000 to 2001)
Genie/O2/Telfort (from 2001 until now)
I started to review games for Planet Internet. Then later BitMagic, where I did reviews in Flash and also produced Shockwave games. For bol.com I worked as a product manager and was responsible for the DVD's. Now I work for Telfort as an operations manager and I am busy making the online shop as succesful as possible!
